Dorothy G. Hustad

Dorothy Grace Hustad, age 94, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Rosewood On Broadway, Fargo.

Dorothy Grace Schwarz was born on March 30, 1924 to Berthold and Laura (Brown) Schwarz in Addison, ND on the farm. She was one of nine children. She attended and graduated from Fargo Central High School. Dorothy’s family moved to Minneapolis during the war after she graduated, and she worked at Sears in the farming department hatching chickens. She married Gay “Bud” Hustad on March 31, 1946 at her aunt’s home in Fargo. She worked various jobs after getting married and together they had two children, Michael and Janet. She worked for the Welcome Wagon for 10 years, the IRS during filing season in Fargo, and at NDSU in the registration department. Dorothy and Bud enjoyed many trips to Europe and Alaska together in their later years.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, dancing, bowling, and entertaining family and friends. She loved going to their lake home on Floyd Lake for 35 glorious years. Dorothy had a strong faith in God and was very involved with the church including the Building Committee, Church Board, youth choir director, and sung alto in the choir. She was on the Board of the Elkettes, the Board of her condominium, and involved in bowling league. Most important of all to Dorothy was her family whom she cherished greatly.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Mike Hustad of Fargo; daughter, Janet Hustad of Pelican Lake, MN; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois Fincham of Minneapolis.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; son-in-law, Terry Hart, MD; and siblings, Charles, Donna, Herold, Bernice, Betty, Laura, and Buddy.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation starting at 10:00 A.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
