Dorothy L. Klodt

Dorothy Lucille Klodt went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 98.  Dorothy was born March 29, 1920 at home in Amenia, ND to Warren & Mae Collins. Dorothy was the third born in a family of eight. She attended Country schools in Amenia & Hunter. Dorothy talked how her Dad built a “Jumper Sled” with a Coal Burning Stove in it to take his children & the neighbor kids to & from school.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the First Free Methodist Church in Fargo ND. She held many positions over the years at her church. She faithfully gave Birthday cards to church family into her 80’s. Dorothy drove her children from Felton, MN to church and picked up her parents & anyone else that needed a ride to church until she was 90.

Dorothy worked at Armor & Co. West Fargo, ND. It was there she met Vern her husband to be. They married in Rochester MN Sept 20, 1942. They moved to his family’s farm near Felton, MN where they farmed. Dorothy enjoyed raising her family & helping on the farm. They moved to Dilworth & then to West Fargo in the country in 1957. Dorothy worked at American Linen for 25 years, retiring in 1983.

Dorothy enjoyed her weekly prayer group & Bible studies. She was a caretaker making homemade soups & delivering when family or friends were sick even into her late 80’s. She loved to serve. Dorothy enjoyed many family travels to different states, Hawaii a few times, Canada & her 90^th birthday-family reunion in Palm Desert, California, at her daughter Donna & Randal’s home. Vern passed away in 1990 & Dorothy remained in her home until 2010 until moving to her daughter & son in law’s near Felton, MN.  Dorothy then moved to Viking Manor in Ulen, MN in 2014 when her health failed.

Dorothy will be dearly missed & remembered for her strong faith, the grace she extended to everyone she met, her smile & love for her family & friends. She was a beautiful lady inside & out.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Bonnie (George) Avis, Caldwell, Idaho, Ron (Louise) Belfair, Washington, Lavon Curry, Woodenville, Washington, Jackie (Larry) Sunde, Felton, MN, Roger (Rosebudd), Crescent City, California, Dorothy (Dolly) Thorsell (the late Fred Harrington), Fargo, ND, Donna (Randal) Williams, Palm Desert, California. She leaves a sister, Betty Jean “BJ” McCullough, Poway, California, Brother, Grant (Inez), Eugene, Oregon; 15 Grandchildren; 32 Great- Grandchildren & 1 Great- Great Grandchild, and many nieces & nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Warren & Mae Collins; her husband, Vern; brothers, Oliver, Earl & Harvey; sisters, Anna Mae at 3 months & Etta Mae Vlatko;  brother-in-laws,  Frank Vlatko, Bob McCullough and  son-in-laws,  Elston Brown, Lee Curry & Leon Thorsell.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 27, 2018, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., at First Free Methodist Church, 1501 10^th Ave. S., Fargo, ND. Interement will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo.
