Dorothy Mae Pellikka, 89, of Hawley, MN, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at Hawley Senior Living, Hawley, MN.
Dorothy was born June 10, 1925 in Fargo, ND, to Ben and Stella Bartosh Lenzen. She grew up and attended school in Fargo, graduating in 1943. After graduation she was employed by S.S. Kresge Company where she met her husband, Hans. They were married on April 18, 1953 in Chicago, IL. Following their marriage they moved to Minneapolis where she continued working for S.S. Kresge. In 1958 they moved to Hawley, MN, where they owned and operated a Coast to Coast Hardware store until 1976. After selling their business, she worked as a cashier at Rocky’s Jack & Jill and also Wahl Drug in Hawley. In the early 1980’s she worked for several years as a Pharmacy Technician at St. Luke’s Hospital/MeritCare in Fargo. She ended her career at Tractor Supply Company in Moorhead, MN, retiring in 2002. While in Hawley, Dorothy was instrumental in the inception of the Hawley Emergency Rescue Team. Since 2005 Dorothy has resided at Hawley Senior Living.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Fred Montana, Minneapolis, MN; one grandson, Adam Allison Miller, Richfield, MN; one brother, Ben Lenzen, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Hans; one sister, Lorraine Kraus; brother-in-law, Emil Kraus; sister-in-law, Donna Lenzen; and two nephews, Jon Lenzen and Richard Kraus.
Funeral: Friday, October 24, 2014, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 2 – 3 p.m., in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
Interment: Hawley Cemetery
