Duane C. “Dewey” Peterson

Duane C. “Dewey” Peterson passed away at his home on Nov. 4th, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer.

Duane, 81, was born to Gilman and Ella Peterson, January 24, 1940, in Milnor, North Dakota. Duane attended Fargo Central School, “Class of 1957”.

Duane met his wife of 61 years, Joanne “Dragging Broadway” which was the entertainment of the day in the 50’s and 60’s.

Duane worked for many years as a truck driver for Armour & Company until they closed. Duane continued driving truck for various other companies until retiring. After retiring Duane decided to work part time driving city school bus until a disability forced him to quit. He referred to his passengers as “all good kids”.

Duane was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and was lucky to see him live in concert twice. Duane loved to do his “Elvis” impersonations at family and friends celebrations.

Duane enjoyed many trips to California and Vegas where he would meet the “old gang” from Fargo.

Duane especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending every one of their sporting events he could. Duane’s favorite trips were to Mpls. to see them.

Duane will take his last (drag) ride down Broadway on Nov. 10th.

Duane leaves his wife, Joanne; son, Brian (Jacy) Elliet, Maddie, Zac, Aidan and Amanda; daughter, Lisa (Kawlewski), Josh, Isaac, Garrett and Olivia. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Wade; parents; son-in-law, Kevin; siblings, Lyle, Vernon, Gordon, Jerry and Donna.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 5-7 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Visitation will continue Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 10-11 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Duane’s page beginning at 11:00 AM.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
