Earl C. Ingebretsen, age 89, of Felton Minnesota, died Thursday at Innovis Hospital, Fargo North Dakota.Earl Chesley Ingebretsen was born on July 7, 1918, in Moland Township, Clay County, Minnesota to Ole and Susanna Carlson Ingebretsen. He attended school at Averill, Dist 22 East of Morken Township, and Felton. On June 3, 1942, he entered the United States Army and served throughout World War II in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged on October 7, 1945. On December 11, 1945 he married Gladys Chelin, in Moorhead. Together they had four children.Earl was a lifelong farmer, who took great pride in his crops. He was a faithful steward of the soil. He was a self taught mechanic, and machinist, who took pride in fixing what others could not. He saw farming from horse to steam to gas and diesel, and could repair them all, often making the parts needed to do the job. He enjoyed traveling, and camping in the woods, and especially enjoyed the neighborhood harvest party, where many friends gathered in our shop to break bread together. Times spent with family, now spanning five generations, were especially precious to him.He is survived by his wife, Gladys, of 62 years. Two sons: Burl Lou of Sabin, Loren Londa of Felton. Two daughters: Betty Steven Coleman, of Edina, and Susan Carl Shaw of Ulen, All in Minnesota. In additon, he is survived by fourteen grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson, a brother: Harold Virginia of Moorhead, and a sister-in-law: Betty Oliver Ingebretsen of Fargo.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Allan and Oliver.
