Earl E. Felland

Earl Egbert Felland was born in Turtle Lake, ND, to Ole and Hilda Kravik Felland. He grew up around Turtle Lake and graduated from Turtle Lake High School. He worked on the farm and did construction on the Garrison Dam. Earl entered the U.S. Navy in 1951, spending most of his service on the USS Boxer, an aircraft carrier in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1955. Earl then graduated from the University of North Dakota and began his career with the U.S. Government. On September 24, 1966, he married Bonnie Jensen from Redfield, SD. Together they started a family and Earl continued with the Government as a Savings and Loan Examiner and Supervisor until retiring in 1993. Earl was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and belonged to Dilworth Post #1223. He was a member of the Military Order of the Cooties, a life member of the American Legion Post #133 in Turtle Lake, ND, and held memberships in Amvets and Disabled American Veterans, the Sons of Norway, Moorhead Citizens Police Academy, and was a Moorhead Police Volunteer. He was also a member of the Lake Region Pioneer Threshermen's Association in Dalton, MN, where he showed his love of antique tractors. In the years since his retirement, he became very active in the VFW with offices and chairmanships on the Post, District and MN Department level. Earl kept in touch with many of his fellow workers in Government service and also valued the friendships of everyone he met through his local volunteering and his beloved military associations. He'll be greatly missed as well by his family. He was the best son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.Earl was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Evelyn and infant Gina; and brothers, Arvid, Andrew, Howard and James. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie; daughter, Amy Clifford Killian & granddaughters, Lehrenne and Talia of Brainerd, MN; son, Eric Tisha Felland & granddaughters, Bella and Danica of Moorhead, MN.
