Earl Forence Newgren, 70, of Hawley, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in his home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Earl was born July 10, 1940 in Colfax, North Dakota to Edgar and Esther Newgren. He grew up and attended school in Fargo. Earl married Theresa Fields on July 15, 1957. Following their marriage he entered the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. While serving in the military they lived in France, Germany, Korea as well as several other locations in the United States. Earl worked for the Pentagon for five years before retiring from the military in 1977, and moved to Hawley, Minnesota, where they have since resided. He was employed at the Veterans Administration as a file clerk. Earl enjoyed spending time at Shell Lake, spending time with his grandchildren, and he loved his Ford truck.He is survived by his wife, Theresa Newgren of Hawley, MN; children, Earl Newgren, Jr., Vicky Robbie Turner, Brenda Woody Grandbois, Julie Chris Sumstad, and Mitzi Ryan Lewis; grandchildren, Sabrina Jason, Ben, Michele, Briann, Jenny, Tim, Daniel, Sam, Arriel, Storm, Cody, Syvannah, Madison, Jack, Joseph, Luke and Noah; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Kiarra and Morgan; and many nieces and nephews.Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Esther Newgren; sister, Effie Newgren; son, Dean Newgren; and grandson, Josh Lee.
