Earl G. Braseth, 82, of Lake Park, MN, died Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Earl was born May 29, 1931, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to Emil and Augusta Myhre Braseth. He grew up and attended District #10 country school near Lake Park and later served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. Earl married Jean in 1963 in Park Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Lake Park, MN. For many years, Earl was an iron worker and he also farmed. He enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting and spending time with his family. Earl was a lifelong member of Park Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jean; children, Kevin Annette, Sheila Steven Schmidt, Eric Kimberly, and Gordon Anne; grandchildren, Philip, Dawn, David, Tylor, Sabrina, Jacob, Mikkel, Josie, Derek, Brooke, Jenna, Payton and Brody; great-grandchildren, Aurora, Asher, Lacey and Orion; brother, Marlin Braseth.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Knish; grandson, Thomas Braseth; granddaughter, Rosa Schmidt; great-granddaughter, Annaliese Knish; and sister, Betty Jane Krueger.
Visitation: Thursday, August 8, 2013, 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Funeral: Friday, August 9, 2013, 11:00 a.m., Rollag Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN.
Interment: Park Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Hawley, MN.
