Edgar was born September 3, 1918 on a farm near Syre, MN, to Jens and Ella Amundson Winjum. He was baptized and confirmed in the Syre Lutheran Church. He attended Shady Lane Country School, Twin Valley High School for two years, and graduated from Hitterdal High School in 1935. He worked on the family farm until 1939, when he went to Los Angeles, California to work for Lockheed. While in California he was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Pacific and was stationed in Pelelieu on Palau Island, Hawaii. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 819th Company B Tank Battalion, and was honorably discharged in 1946. His father passed away after he came home and he continued to farm with his mother on the present farm south of Hitterdal. Edgar married Delores Solwold Jensen on September 30, 1978. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Edgar was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, serving as an usher, trustee or deacon for forty years, and later as a custodian. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, one niece, one nephew and one step-son. He is survived by his wife, Delores, Hitterdal, MN; three step-children, Dale Lynette Jensen, Moorhead, MN, Paul Robin Jensen, Hawley, MN, and Kathy Lynell Johnson, Hawley, MN; nine step-grandchildren, Jason Jensen, Denielle Amundson, Brad Jensen, Desiree Jensen, Lindsey Rinde, Kelsey Johnson, Amanda Jensen, Carter Jensen, and Eric Erickson; seven step-great-grandchildren, Zachary & Anthony Erickson, Carson & Hudson Amundson, Gunnar Sorenson, Brodan & Bridgette Jensen; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
