Edna C. Petermann, 98 of Hawley, MN died Monday February 7, 2011, in Hawley Senior Living, Hawley, MN, with her family by her side.Edna Carrie Swenson was born March 19, 1912, six miles west of Sliver Lake, just south of Hawley. She attended country school near her home until 6th grade. She worked at home until September 14, 1932 when she married Leonard Petermann. Following their marriage they farmed and milked cows on their home farm north of Hawley. Leonard and Edna retired in 1972 and moved to the place where Rhonda and Tony Laddusaw now live. Leonard died June 6, 1985. Edna moved to town a few years later. She first started painting pictures at a young age and did many watercolors of horses, buildings and nature and wildlife scenes. She was a long time exhibitor at the Hawley Art Show and sold and still has many paintings decorating her room at the Hawley Senior Living and her children's and grandchildren's walls. Edna was active in Alter Guild, Circle and Homemakers and many other groups. She also did a lot of needle work and has many embroidered dish towels and tablecloths. She also enjoyed playing whist, bingo and many other activities at the manor with her many friends there. Edna had a very calm spirit and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.Edna is survived by one son, Merlyn Ginger Petermann of Hawley, two daughters, LynetteRandy Monson of Hawley, MN, and LaVonne "Vonnie" Jerome Wamre of Detroit Lakes, MN a brother, Maynard Swenson of Florida; sixteen grandchildren; Thirty-eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildrenShe was preceded in death by her husband, and a great-granddaughter, Nicole Laddusaw.
