Edwin was born on January 10, 1930 in White Lake, SD. He was the second child born to Manley and Mae Mathis Edwards. He and his six brothers and sisters grew up on a farm north of Plankinton, SD. He graduated from Plankinton High School in 1947 with the honor of Salutation. On June 20, 1951, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a medic for a M*A*S*H unit during the Korean War Police Action. Because of his service he earned the Bronze Star and United Nations Medal. After his military service he returned home to continue working on the family farm.Later, because of his adventurous spirit, he moved to Minot, ND, and started driving a semi for Farmers Union Oil. During his driving career he continued to serve his country by hauling the 1st, last and many other missiles for the military silo's located throughout North Dakota in the 1960's.March 4, 1961 was a special day when he married Carolyn Olive Babolian at Glyndon Lutheran Church in Glyndon, MN. After living in Glyndon, MN, Surrey and Grand Forks, ND, they moved to Moorhead, MN, to raise their four children. Continuing his trucking career he retired in 1985 as a proud member of the Local Teamsters Union with having been employed with Transport Inc., Moorhead, MN, for 20 years. Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carolyn; daughters, Eileen L. Kilian John Holmgren and Colleen Edwards, both of Fargo, ND; sons, Michael Donna, Sioux Falls, SD and Ernest, Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Rachael and Matthew, Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Rochelle Edwards, Jackson, MN; brothers, Dr. Creighton L. Michael Edwards, Houston, TX, Dennis Clarice Edwards, Fargo, ND; along with lifetime friends, Donald Byrd and Howard Stoddard.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Myron; sisters, Twyla Adams and Barbara Pryor; and many lifelong friends including Wayne Bradwich.Edwin's family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Essentia Health, the IMS doctors, the staff at Kinder Care, the staff at Sanford dialysis and Edwin's trucking buddies.
