Elaine I. Koenen, 83, Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in Elim Care Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.

Elaine Irene Koenen was born April 16, 1934, in Warsaw, ND, to Frank and Minnie Pietrzak Kasprick. She grew up and attended school in Oslo, MN, and moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area in the early 1970’s.

She is survived by sons, David Nona Palya, Tom Marita Palya, Michael Palya; daughters, Karen Rodney Opp, Lori Mick Siems, Cheryl Palya; sisters, Lorraine Richard Deschene, Diane Norb Bravo; brother-in-law, Phil Dahl; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Frankie; sisters, Darlyne, Steffie, Eleanor, Tillie, Frances and brother, Ernest.

A memorial gathering will be held Monday, May 15, 2017, from 2:00 – 4:30 PM with a prayer service beginning at 4:30 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
