Elaine M. Akin

Elaine Akin, 78, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, August 28, 2004, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Elaine Mulholland was born on April 13, 1926, in Buffalo, ND, to Robert and Hazel Brandhagen Mulholland. She grew up and attended school in Fargo, ND, graduating from Fargo Central High School. Elaine married Glenn Akin on February 11, 1949, in Grace United Methodist Church in Moorhead, MN. They made their home in Moorhead, where they owned and operated Akin Electric. Elaine was a longtime, active member of Grace United Methodist Church. She also spent many hours volunteering at Eventide Lutheran Home. She was an avid bowler, and was in the Fargo-Moorhead Bowling Hall of Fame. She was also active in the Moorhead Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.Elaine is survived by her husband, Glenn Akin, Moorhead, MN; one son, Mark Akin, Moorhead, MN; four sisters, Beatrice Keith Kroke, Fargo, ND, Karen Dix Yohn, Hillsboro, OR, Kathleen Mulholland, San Jose, CA, and Susan Jack Lake, Quincy, CA; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn "Skip" Akin; two brothers, Dale and David; and her parents.
