Elaine G. Renslow

Elaine Gloria Renslow, 89, of Moorhead, MN, died January 27, 2024, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake
Park, MN.

Elaine was born January 15, 1935, in Keene Township to Eli and Gladys (Olson) Syverson. They later
moved to a farm northwest of Ulen and were members of Javanker Lutheran Church. Elaine attended
District 105 (Syverson Country School) until 8th grade. The family later became members of Bethlehem
Lutheran Church in Ulen and Elaine was confirmed June 1949 by Rev. Alfred Gunderson. She graduated
from Ulen High School in 1953. She worked at Knapp’s Grocery in Moorhead and Red Owl in Fargo.

On June 8, 1956, Elaine was united in marriage to James Odell Renslow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in
Ulen, by Rev. Thomas Boe. They lived in Langdon and Minot, ND, Victorville and Rialto, CA. In 1970 they
moved to Grafton, ND where they lived for 25 years. They were members of Grafton Lutheran Church
where their four children were confirmed. Elaine was employed at Unity Hospital in Grafton for 23 years
and she also worked at the Grafton Migrant School Nursery, taking care of babies.

In 1995 James Odell and Elaine retired and moved to Little Cormorant Lake. For 10 years they were
snowbirds in Mesa, AZ. In 2006 they celebrated their 50th anniversary at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in
Audubon, MN with family and friends. In 2010 they moved to Moorhead and became members of
Trinity Lutheran Church. Elaine was an active member of every Lutheran church she belonged to,
participating in circle, quilting, Bible study, serving funerals and custodial work.

Elaine is survived by her children; Steven Odell (Kim) Renslow, Bradley James (Bunny) Renslow, JoLeen
Beth (Dean) Eklund and Todd Neal (Bekki) Renslow; grandchildren, Andrew Dean Eklund, Anthony James
(Sarah) Eklund, Zachary Neal Renslow, Megan Jean (Randall Hanson) Renslow, Savannah Nicole Renslow,
Morgan Jae (Christian Frederick) Renslow, and Austin Cole (Amelia) Renslow; great-grandchildren, Nora
James Eklund, Gus Marvin Eklund and Ross Cole Renslow; siblings, David (Diane) Syverson, Virgil (Peggy)
Syverson, Mark (Kathy) Syverson and Sandra (David) Underdahl, as well as many cousins, nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Odell.

Memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church or Sunnyside Care Center.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation for one hour before the service, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. Interment will be at Keene Cemetery near Ulen, MN.
