Eldon L. Harris

Eldon Harris, 93, Moorhead, died Sunday, October 3, 2004, in the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Eldon was born on a farm near Hurdsfield, ND on May 3, 1911. He grew up there and was the third son out of five children, and graduated from Hurdsfield High School. He attended college at Valley City State College and taught in a one room schoolhouse for a couple of years. He married Eleanor McCullagh June 24, 1936 and they moved to Moorhead soon after. He worked at Dakota Tractor which later became Butler Machinery for 20 years. He bought and ran a grocery store in Elbow Lake, MN for four years and then lived in Tampa, FL. He retired in 1977. He and his wife moved back to the Fargo-Moorhead area then and lived in The Evergreens since 2001. She died in March of 2003. He is survived by two sons, Rod Margaret, Fargo, ND, and Keith, St. Paul, MN; one daughter, Elaine Phil Von Pinnon, Moorhead, MN; a sister, Julia Grimm, Harvey, ND;3 grandchildren, Amy, Janelle and Matthew; and two great grandchildren.
