Elizabeth "Betty" Heit was born June 24, 1920, to John and Agatha Pfau Schatz near Karlsruhe, ND, the second of eight children, passed away on December 10, 2012, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.On August 24, 1942, she married Michael Heit. Michael was in the Army from 1942 to 1948, and Betty traveled with him when possible while he was in the service. After his discharge, they settled on a farm near Bergen, ND. where they started their family consisting of three boys. Thereafter, they moved to a farm near Anamoose, ND and then in 1952, to a farm near Medina, ND. In 1964, they gave up farming and moved to Moorhead, MN. Betty was the head cook at Dakota Hospital until 1971, and was also an Avon Representative during that same time period. In 1971, Betty began a career in Tupperware and was a Tupperware dealer until 1973, at which time she became a manager. She retired from Tupperware in 1987, and remained a Tupperware consultant until her death.Betty was an active volunteer at Eventide Nursing Home. In addition, she was well known for her crafts and embroidered dish towels which were sold at the Eventide Gift Shop where she also volunteered her time. She was also an avid bingo player in the area and was lucky to win some pretty nice jackpots.Betty has been a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN, since moving to Moorhead in 1964.Betty is survived by her sons Gary Heit, Minneapolis, MN, and Lyle Heit, Fargo, ND; one grandchild, Chad Amanda Heit; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Chris Schatz and Louie Schatz, Voltaire, ND, Raymond Schatz and Adam Schatz, Yakima, WA, and one sister, Jo Krahn, Moorhead, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Heit; son, Duane Heit; sisters, Agnes and Irene, and grandson, Lonnie Heit.
