Elizabeth Jean “Betty” (Dreier) Christensen, 93, of Glyndon, MN, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, in her home in Glyndon.
Betty was born on January 9, 1931, to Max and Rudine (Stewart) Dreier in Omaha, NE. She grew up in Breckenridge, MN, where she graduated from Breckenridge High School. She attended Moorhead Teachers College, now Minnesota State University Moorhead, where she earned her degree in education. She was united in Marriage to Eugene Christensen on August 8, 1951, in Breckenridge, MN.
They lived in West Fargo, ND, before moving to Glyndon, MN, in 1970 where they have resided ever since.
Betty returned to MSUM, earning her master’s degree in education. After her graduation, Betty taught Elementary Special Education with the Moorhead Public Schools. She touched the lives of countless students in her many years of teaching.
Betty was active with Gene in the Fargo El Zagal Shrine. They enjoyed traveling in their retirement. Betty’s creative talents brought joy to herself and many others through gifts and donations of quilts, hand stitched items, and sewing. She was always present for her children and grandchildren at activities and special events. She came with a smile, love, and encouragement. Her love of flowers was evident in the yard she kept. She hosted many holidays and special dinners, served on her best china. Sharing of her time and talent has created many memories. Betty had a caring personality and was poised with elegance, confidence, and grace touching the lives of all who knew her.
Betty is survived by her children, LeAnn (Tony) England, Bruce Christensen, and Kelli (Jim) Venzke; grandchildren, Brianne (Chad) Kalil, Luke England, Erin (Tony) Doll, Krissy (Mark) Arneson, Brett Kuehl, Tom (Bailey Bunnelle) Venzke, Andrea (Bobby) Crane, and Joel (Laurie) DeVenzke; great-grandchildren, McKenzie England, Daxton England, Harper Nelson, Cooper Kalil, Jackson Arneson, Jace Arneson, Bode Doll, Rory Doll, Jaidyn Crane, Robby Crane, and Grayson Bunnelle-Venzke; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Eugene; daughter, Tracy Kuehl; parents, Max and Rudine; siblings, Lois Voz, Barb Krueshke, and Jack Dreier; and son-in-law, Dale Kuehl.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M., followed by the prayer service at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue Monday, February 19, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead, MN, following the service.
