Ellatena Schweigert

Ellatena (Hiller) Schweigert passed away on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at the age of 96.

Ellatena was born on May 24,1924 to Christof and Magdelina (Geohring) Hiller near Wishek, ND. She was the youngest of six children: 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Ellatena married Roland Schweigert on August 29,1946 in Moorhead, Minnesota. Soon after they moved to Minneapolis, MN, where Roland attended telegraphy school. Roland became a depot agent for the Milwaukee Road Railroad. For six years they traveled around the country relieving other depot agents that went on vacations. They were never in one city for more than two weeks at a time. Finally, after doing this for six years, Roland got a permanent agent job in Hillsview, SD. While there, their only child Marsha was born. Two years Later, they were relocated to Zeeland, ND where they lived until 1964. That year they moved to Moorhead, MN.

Ellatena worked at Mandels Furs in Fargo, ND for two years. She then went to work at the Fargo Forum until retiring in 1988.

Ellatena is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Jim) Emarine, Moorhead, MN; Grandson,Trevor (Jennifer) Kratzke, St. Joseph, MN; two great-granddaughters, Danetta (Dustin) Geist, Clear Lake, MN, and Katrina Kratzke; and one great- great-grandson, Sutton Geist. Also, one special great-nephew, Kip Vossler, Dilworth MN; as well as other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roland, her parents and all her siblings.

A private family service will be held. She will be laid to rest in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, with her late husband, in Mandan, ND.
