Ellen Alberta Anderson

Ellen Alberta (Miller) Anderson, 92, of Hawley, MN, formerly of Hitterdal, MN, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Eventide Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.

Ellen was born on November 14, 1932, to Roy and Ruby (Schroeder) Miller, in Galesburg, ND. She grew up in Waubun, MN, where she attended and graduated from High School. She moved to Michigan where she took care of her nieces and nephews before moving to Detroit Lakes, MN, and opened a seamstress shop with her sister, Ruby. She was united in marriage to Aldwin Anderson in December of 1958, at Highland Grove Lutheran Church in rural Hitterdal, MN. They moved to a family farm in rural Hawley, MN, where Ellen helped Aldwin work the farm and raised her children. After retirement, they moved into Hitterdal, MN until Aldwin’s passing in 2012. Ellen moved to Hawley Assisted Living, and more recently, Eventide Nursing Home, where she has remained ever since.

Ellen could do pretty much anything she set her sights on, whether it be woodworking or other various projects. She was a talented seamstress and loved to sew and create bridesmaid dresses, garden, and bake, especially wedding cakes. She was an active member at Highland Grove and participated in the Ladies Aid and Circle Groups. Most of all, she loved spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by her children, Tim (Kim) Anderson and Kim (Jamie) Cole; grandchildren, Brandon (Alicia) Rustad, Aaron (Hannah) Rustad, Nick (Willow) Rustad, Ryan (Samantha) Anderson, and Brittany (Matt) Alexander; great-grandchildren, Hanna Alexander, Hattie Alexander, Eleanor Anderson, and Gordon Anderson; her siblings, Ruby Johnston and Joe Miller; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Aldwin; parents, Roy and Ruby; and siblings, Mary, Della, Ann, Louis, and James “Bud”.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 14, 2025, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. A livestream of the service will be available here on Ellen's Webpage. Burial will be at Highland Grove Cemetery at a later date.
