Ellen Audrey Honek

Ellen Audrey Honek passed away peacefully at Lilac Homes on June 11, 2018 at the age of 90.  Ellen was born August 11, 1927 to Elmer and Audrey Hendrickson in Brainerd, MN, where she grew up.  In 1944, Ellen and her family moved to Mahnomen, MN where she graduated from high school and met George Honek.

Ellen and George were united in marriage in Mahnomen, MN on October 30, 1948.  Shortly thereafter, they moved to Moorhead, MN, where they became lifelong residents and raised five children.  Ellen was employed by Northern School Supply, Fargo, for approximately 30 years. Ellen and George were married for nearly 70 years and were lifelong members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead.  Ellen was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress, but most importantly she was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ellen is survived by her children; Marilyn (Jerry) James, CA; Jim, Fargo; Jerry (Laurie), Moorhead; Pat (Bruce) Leonard, Fargo; and Mike (Michele), Dilworth; 9 grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew (Paloma), Emily, Brandon, Brooke, Sydney, and Cole Honek, Bridgette (Nick) Frane, Leah (Carl) Wright and 4 great-grandchildren; Dayton and Jaxsen Frane and Afton and Noelia Honek.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her four brothers, Alfred, Gordon, Kenneth, and Donald Hendrickson.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 15, 2018 at 3:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.  Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead, following the service.
