Elmer Blakeway, 90, Hawley, MN, died on Saturday, October 13, 2012, in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Elmer J. Blakeway was born on May 12, 1922, near Hawley, MN, to Joseph and Eleanor Perkins Blakeway, where he grew up and attended school. He married Alfreda Anderson on June 14, 1947 in Lysne Lutheran Church near Hawley and they made their home north of Hawley, where they farmed. He was a dairy farmer who loved his cows and had a special place in his heart for little kids and dogs. He loved to fish and hunt. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Lysne Lutheran Church. Elmer enjoyed 65 years of marriage to the catch of his life, Alfreda. They moved into Hawley, MN, in 1992.Elmer is survived by his wife, Alfreda; two sons, Marvin Blakeway, Hawley, MN, and Larry Diane Blakeway, Hawley, MN; two daughters, Rebecca Alan Randall, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Mary Lu John Madson, Lake Park, MN; two sisters, Hyacinth Kronbeck, Moorhead, MN, and Charlotte Grant Haug, Moorhead, MN; nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and ten step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Virgil and William; two sisters, Cynthia Anderson and Genevieve Villiard; an infant sister Elizabeth; and a great-grandchild, Dalton Blakeway .Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley or your favorite charity.
