Elmer Wolfswinkel

Elmer Wolfswinkel, 87, Hitterdal, MN, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.Elmer was born on September 2, 1920, in Rock Rapids, IA, to Albert and Jenny Wolfswinkel. He grew up and attended school there. He worked in the shipyards in California during WWII and then farmed near Wyndmere, ND, before going to work for LaVoy and Sheffler, of Fargo, ND, building roads in Western, ND. He then drove semi-truck for Dan Dugan in Moorhead for 29 years. Elmer married Margaret Auren on July 13, 1963, in Fergus Falls, MN, and they lived in the F-M area until moving to Hitterdal, MN, in 1973. Elmer also drove truck for his son, Wolfswinkel Trucking, and hauled grain for farmers in the Lake Park-Hitterdal area.He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Hitterdal, MN; son, Mike DeeAnn Lake Park, MN; daughters, Karenne John Stannard, Delavan, WI, Stephanie Wolfswinkel Hal Arnest Marin County, CA, and Denise Wade Harles, West Fargo, ND; sister Nellie Bullock, San Diego, CA; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
