Elsie Bexell Gale

Elsie Bergman Bexell Gale, 88, died on Friday, November 2, 2007, in Innovis Hospital, Fargo, ND. She was born in Sweden on September 30, 1919 to Henry and Elin Bergman, and came to the United States in 1926. She attended school in Clearbrook, MN.She married Arthur Bexell in October 1942. He died on February 18, 1969. Over the years they owned and operated restaurants in Clearbrook, Breckenridge and Park Rapids, MN. They moved to Moorhead in 1958, where she worked retail and did housework for several area families. Elsie was a very giving person who enjoyed sharing with family and friends her love of baking, home canning, gardening and sewing.She married James Gale on January 26, 1974. He died on January 20, 1996. She was active in the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, serving a term as president in each. She also volunteered at the Moorhead Thrift Shop for over 25 years.Elsie is survived by her son Larry Renee Bexell of Park Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Kristin Beau Bateman of Grand Forks, ND, Kari Steven Thompson, Apple Valley, MN, Jason Melanie Bexell of Moose Lake, MN; nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Alice Kenneth Forsberg, Barbara Peterson, Katy Bud Vik, Doris Richard Terrill; two brothers, Erick Arlene Bergman, Alvin Sybil Bergman; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Bergman. She was preceded in death by her husbands, three sisters and two brothers.
