Elsie Mae Olson

Elsie Mae (Reitan) Olson, 83, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in McIntosh Senior Living, McIntosh, MN. Elsie was born on July 29, 1936, in rural Claire City, SD, to John and Helena Reitan. She grew up in Claire City where she attended Claire City Country school until the 8^th grade.

On December 1^st, 1956, Elsie was united in marriage to Gordon Olson in Watertown, SD. They moved to Minneapolis, MN, where they made their home. She worked for Northwest Bank in downtown Minneapolis for many years while she raised her family. In 1988, Elsie and Gordon moved their family to Ada, MN, for four years before moving to Moorhead.

Elsie enjoyed her family and friends, doing word finds, going to casinos, scratch off tickets, going to Dairy Queen for a chocolate dipped cone, and having fun.

Elsie is survived by her children, David (Shirin) Olson and Kathy (Aaron) Iverson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Tasha) Eggert, Emily and Jake Olson, Isaac, Josie, Bailey, and Breezy Iverson, and Brandon Kreuger; great-grandchildren, Suraj, Jeremiah, Milly, and Arie Eggert; sister, Yvonne (Pete) Spotts; sister-in-law, Jeannie Reitan; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; son, Scott Olson; siblings, Hazel Fiscus, Eileen Eddy, Odean Reitan, Lillian Olson, Leonard Reitan, and Donny Reitan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 11:00 A.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A private family graveside service will be held at Faaberg Lutheran Church, Rindal, MN, at a later date.
