Elvina Evavold Smith was born June 27, 1914, in Eagle Lake Township, MN. She graduated from Northwestern College, Fergus Falls, MN, and attended Moorhead State Teacher's College, Moorhead, MN, and Interstate Business College, Fargo, ND. She worked as a secretary at Cass County Children's Social Service Center in Fargo, ND.Elvina married Leman William Smith on July 18, 1942, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND. They lived in Fergus Falls, MN, Bismarck, ND, and in 1953 moved to Fargo, ND. Leman passed away October 8, 2004. Elvina was active in her church where she taught Sunday school, served as wedding coordinator, was a member of Naomi Circle, and quilted until her eyesight declined.Elvina was preceded in death by her husband, Leman; parents, Klaus Edvard Evavold and Annie Louise Lundberg Evavold; brother, Joseph; sisters, Minnie and Lillian Saure; stepsister, Evenelle; and stepbrother, Luthard.She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jane Vernon Pederson of Moorhead, MN; and granddaughter, Laura Louise Pederson of New Hope, MN. She is also survived by a brother, Ephraim Evavold of Rushford, MN.Elvina was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
