Erika L. Markey-Peterson

Erika L. Markey-Peterson, 39, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at home surrounded by family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Erika was born in Fargo, ND on November 11, 1983, to Gary and Cindy (Mitchell) Markey. She grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 2002. She attended Moorhead State University for Criminal Justice before switching majors to Nursing where she graduated with a degree from Rasmussen University in Fargo. She worked in various rolls within Merit Care/Sanford and Prairie St. Johns throughout her time.

On August 29, 2009, Erika married Steve Peterson and they were together for 12 years.

Erika is survived by her parents; brother, Jeff (Amy Svensk); sister, Eve; and her beloved dog, Macy.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Allen and Joyce Mitchell, and Vernon and Irene Markey; as well as aunts and uncles, Veronica Markey, Vernon Markey Jr., Rod Mitchell, and Lauri Sandry.
