Ernest A. Jacobson, 89, Lake Park, MN, passed away September16, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital Detroit Lakes, following a heart attack. Ernest was born August 13, 1921, on the family farm south of Lake Park, MN to Axel and Amanda Carlson Jacobson. His father came from Sweden after serving in the army there; his mother was born in "Dakota Territory" to Swedish immigrants. He attended school at District 50, and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1939. He then graduated from Fargo Business College. Ernest was a World War II Veteran, serving in Calcutta India as a Radar Technician. Ernest married Marion Dahlberg in1947, celebrating their 63rd Wedding Anniversary this year. They have two children, Laurie, Phoenix, AZ, and Bruce, living at home. Ernest worked for Armour's, West Fargo, as an Internal Auditor until the plant closed. He then worked as an Office Manager at Conlin Furniture; then accountant and rising to Chief Fiscal Officer at Veterans Administration Hospitals, working at Hot Springs, SD, St. Cloud, MN, Minneapolis, MN, Brecksville, OH, Saginaw, MI, and Marion, IN. He retired in 1983, moving back to Cormorant Township to the family, friends, and fishing lakes where he grew up. He was active in the community through Cormorant Lions Club, Strandvik Lutheran Church, serving as Treasurer and Head Usher for many years, Lake Park American Legion, VFW, Lake Park Senior Citizens Club, Ombudsman Volunteer, Cormorant Lakes Sportsmen's Club and Lake Park Bone Builders. He also helped found the Detroit Lakes Chapter of AARP, and served as Assistant State Director AARP for Northwest Minnesota. He loved sports, fishing, Twins and Vikings. Ernest bowled and played golf for many years, winning many trophies. He was preceded in death by older brothers, Carl and Gustave Ed, infant brother, Ralph, and sister-in-law, Alice Mrs. Ed Bratlien Jacobson. He is survived by wife Marion; children, Laurie and Bruce; nieces, Carolyn Paseka, Fargo and Ginnie Hanley, Kansas City; nephews, Jerry, Colorado and Paul Jacobson, Lake Park.
