Ernie Larson, 94, of Fargo, ND, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo.
Ernie Rex Larson was born April 27, 1922, the son of Tom and Bessie Larson, in Glyndon, MN, where he grew up and attended school. Following high school he worked for Kost Brothers in Downer, MN. In October of 1942 he went into the Army for 3 ½ years where he served in the European Theatre. After the war, he started farming. Ernie married Doris Ohnstad on February 14, 1972. He farmed and operated a gravel pit in Twin Valley, MN. He was also a partner in the Silver Spike Motel in Dilworth, MN. Ernie and Doris wintered in Mission, TX for 40 years.
Ernie is survived by son Tom Ohnstad, of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters Laurine Muhle and Ardis Jim Haarstad Johnson and brother-in-law Julian Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his parents and step-father Anton Hansen.
Ernie’s family extends a special thank you to the staff of Sanford Palliative Care, Roger Maris Cancer Center and Touchmark for their wonderful, loving care of Ernie.
