Esther O. Olson

Esther O. Olson, age 90, of Moorhead, Minnesota died at Merit Care Palliative Care Center on Saturday morning, April 10, 2010.Esther Hexom was born on July 4, 1919, to John and Mathilda Nesting Hexom. She grew up in the Hickson, ND, area. She graduated from the high school at Casselton, ND. She married Emil R. Olson on December 2, 1936. They lived on a farm near Kragnes, MN until 1943, when they moved to a farm south of Moorhead where they farmed until retirement. Upon retirement they moved to the city of Moorhead, sometimes spending winters in Arizona. Esther loved flowers, more especially roses, and gardening, fishing at the lake and quilting. She won many grand champion ribbons at the county fair for her work. Each of her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren received a quilt from her. She liked to read, her daily walks and to laugh until she was no longer able. Emil & Esther were a handsome couple on the dance floor. She took great delight in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the caretaker for Emil in his later years. She looked forward to being reunited with him.She is survived by her children; Judy Allan Evernham, E. Robert Donna Bemis Olson, and Dewey Diane Beckerleg Olson, all of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Roxann Rick Gerrard of Otho, IA, Duane DeeAnn Zimmerman of Sioux City, IA, Joellen Shendy Evernham of San Diego, CA, Jarrod Anita Olson of Aberdeen, SD, Alanna Scott Bilben of Blaine, MN, Jennifer Olson of New Britian, CT, Kevin Olson of Albertville, MN, Kari Brian Sebastian of Cincinnati, OH, Kirk Katie Olson of Moorhead, MN, Kyle Melanie Olson of Greenfield, WI and 14 great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mattie Samuelson, Judith Hemkin, Connie Beahl, Jewel Reed; her husband, Emil and daughter, Ardys Dan Zimmerman.
