Eugene "Gene" Klimek

Eugene “Gene” Victor Klimek, 79, of Fargo, ND, passed away September 28, 2023, at Sanford Health Medical Center in Fargo. 

Gene was born April 16, 1944, in Wadena, MN, to Joseph and Dorothy (Gahlon) Klimek.  He grew up in Urbank, MN and graduated from high school in Parkers Prairie, MN in 1963.  After graduation he moved to Alexandria, MN to work for Alexandria Boat Works, and he became good friends with his roommate, Dave Martin.  Gene met the love of his life, June Hanson, and in 1971 they moved to Emerado, ND together.  In 1972 they moved to Moorhead, MN and Gene began working for Steiger Tractor (Case IH), from which he retired after 38 years.  Gene truly had a heart of gold, as he faithfully took on the responsibilities of 32 years of life with June and her 7 children.  June passed away in 2001. 

Gene loved spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply working in his yard.  Gene and June enjoyed a lot of traveling together over the years.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. 

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Klimek; his sweetheart of 32 years, June Hanson; grandparents, Charles and Nelly Gahlon; nephew, Billy Jo Klimek; brother, Ellsworth Klimek and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his brother Joe (Cindy) Klimek; Joe’s children, Joey Klimek, Curt (Ceann) Klimek, Kristi (Shaun) Lugert, Michelle (Tyron) Warren, and David (Jessie) James and God-son, Kenny Hanson; brother, Clemens (Ginny) Klimek; Clemen’s children, Josh (Amy) Klimek, Dorothy (Bob) Twa, and Jacob (Alyssa) Klimek; nephew, Casey Klimek; numerous great-nephews, nieces, as well as many cousins.
