Eugene “Gene” W. Langlie

Eugene W. “Gene” Langlie, 89, Glyndon, MN, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in Pelican Valley Health Center, Pelican Rapids, MN.
Gene was born on July 13, 1926 in Fargo, ND, to Walter and Evelyn Gilbery Langlie. He grew up and attended school in Glyndon, MN, graduating from Glyndon High School in 1944.
Gene married Carol Erstad on November 26, 1949 at Glyndon, MN. They made their home near Glyndon where he farmed all of his life. In addition to farming, he drove bus for Banker Metcalf and the Glyndon Public Schools, worked as a warehouse manager for Mike Layton Potato Warehouse and plowed snow for the city of Glyndon. He was a member of the Glyndon Volunteer Fire Department, and had been a member of the Glyndon Rod and Gun Club since 1945. He had also been a Firearms Safety Instructor and Little League Baseball Coach. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gene’s family would like to thank the staff at Pelican Valley Health Care Center for the wonderful care they offered to him.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, Glyndon, MN; children Laura Lee Steve Handegaard, Dalton, MN, Kevin Lola, Glyndon, Kent, Barnesville, Mona Casey Prunty, Mesa, AZ, Mark Chan, Hawley, MN, Eric Lauri, Glyndon, MN, Peter Alma, Mesa, AZ, Adam, West Fargo, ND, Phillip Sandy West Fargo, ND, Sara Brian Shepard, Audubon, MN; sister Marlene Roger Nash; brother-in-law Bob Hillier; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn; sons Tim, Joe and Jon; and sister Janet Hillier.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 1:30 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
