Eugene J. Huber

Eugene Huber, 84, of Lisbon, ND, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, ND. Gene was born November 23, 1938, in Strasburg, ND, to Jacob and Agatha (Klein) Huber. He grew up on the family farm near Strasburg, where he also attended school. Gene enlisted in the U.S. National Guard. After his service, he made his career as a lineman. On January 2, 1965, Gene married Theresa Baumgartner. Together they made their home in both Wisconsin and Minnesota for a time prior to moving to Devils Lake, ND while raising their family.

Gene and his family later moved to Lisbon, ND. He had a knack for fixing anything mechanical, especially cars and lawn mowers, and always enjoyed the challenge. Gene spent the past 45 years in Lisbon where he operated Lisbon Express for several years and enjoyed the community, spending time outdoors, and tinkering in his garage.

Gene is survived by his children, Janine (David) Ogren of Grand Forks, Sheri (Scott) Balko of Fargo, ND, Bill Huber of Fargo, Dean Huber of Hankinson, Don Huber of Fargo; eight grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; ex-wife, Theresa Huber; sisters, Kathy Bourne, Sharon Beck, Patty Sundall, and Linda (Gary) Kullnat; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Huber Krueger; sister, Ann Englund; and brothers, Larry and Louis Huber

Visitation will be Monday, October 23, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, Fargo, ND. Interment will be in Lisbon, ND, at a later date.
