Eugene Thomas Daker, age 86 from Cormorant Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 11. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Agnus, brother, Charles, and sisters, Alice and Patty
Gene was born on October 10th 1929 in Hardin Saskatchewan. The family moved around, finally settling in Fargo, ND, where he met the love of his life, Elda.
Gene spent 2 year serving in the army as a Company Clerk in Korea
Gene and Elda were married on August 16th 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They started their life together on a 40 acre farm located near the Sheyenne River in Argusville, ND. The family then moved to Fargo where they lived for 14 years. Gene started working for NSP where he was a crane operator for 20 years. In 1972 they moved down to the Cormorant Lake area where they built their life long family home together on Big Cormorant Lake. There, they raised cattle and Gene continued to work as a crane operating for Wylies.
Gene enjoyed hunting, traveling, bowling and spending time with his family. He especially loved his yearly trip to Laughlin, NV with Elda.
Gene is survived by his wife, Elda; 2 sister, Margret and Hazel; son, Tom Molly Daker; 2 daughters, Connie Gary Hiatt, Linda Duane “Ace” Johnson; 6 Grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 hour before service
Funeral: Monday, May 16th 2016 at 11am, Cormorant Lutheran Church, Cormorant Village, MN
Interment: Cormorant Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cormorant Village, MN
