Eugene T. Polum

Eugene Polum, 80, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Baywood Manor Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.

Eugene was born February 2, 1933 in Fargo, N.D. to Peter and Alice Wilson Polum. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Central High School in 1950. He married Lillian Averson in 1952, they later divorced and he married Barbara Mckinnon in 1969. She passed away in 1986 and he married Joyce Larson in 1989. He made his career in the Fargo Fire Department, becoming a Captain and serving 35 years until his retirement in 1990.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of 23 years; six children: Cynthia Polum, Sherry Bob Grover, Lori Ellefson, all of Fargo, Jeff Karen Polum of Fairview, OK, Mark Polum of Garfield, MN, and Brent Nikki Polum of Grand Forks, ND; two stepchildren: Lonnie LeAnn Larson of Rochester, MN, and Lori John Bradseth of Tenstrike, MN; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Evonne Harrison of Fargo, ND and Shirley Frank Kowalski of Staples, MN; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Polum of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack, one sister, Betty Harrison, wife, Barbara, and son-in-law, Andy.

Memorial Gathering: Friday, Arpil 19, 2013, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in Zion Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, North Dakota.
