Evangeline L. Johnson

Evangeline was born February 1, 1930, in Fargo, ND, to Stephen and Catherine Peppas. She grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead State High School in 1948. Evangeline worked with her father in his dry cleaning, shoe repair and restaurant businesses and also at the Children's Home in Fargo. On December 16, 1951, Evangeline married Donald Johnson. They had four children between 1952 and 1962 and lived on a farm in Glyndon, MN. In 2007, they moved to Moorhead. Evangeline was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Glyndon. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, dice, bird watching, bowling and cooking. Evangeline is survived by her husband, Donald, Moorhead; one daughter, Catherine, Moorhead; two sons Raymond JoLyn, Glyndon and Donald II Wendy, Brooklyn Park; nephew, James Bernhardt, Detroit Lakes; four sisters, Mary Dockendorf, Oregon, Connie McGrath, Texas, Kalliope Bernhardt, Moorhead and Dolly Diemert, California; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Catherine Peppas; son, Joey; and three brothers.
