Evangeline M. “Vangie” Klemisch

Evangeline “Vangie” M. Klemisch, 80, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Palliative Care Unit of Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Vangie was born on December 15, 1937 in Edgeley, ND, the oldest of twelve, to George and Mary (Gross) Braun.  She attended country school in Montpelier, ND, before going to St. John’s Academy in Jamestown for high school.

She moved to Fargo and met Ted Klemisch.  They married on July 10, 1956 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo and raised four children in Moorhead.  They enjoyed traveling with their camper throughout Canada and the western U.S. and loved spending time with family at the lake.  Ted passed away on June 20, 1999.

Vangie loved to cook and bake and always had plenty of food on the table when entertaining family and guests.  The grandkids always knew where she kept the goodies and often looked the other way when they got into them.

Vangie worked for Fargo and Moorhead public schools and was involved in the Hot Lunch Program. She retired from Probstfield Elementary in Moorhead after more than 20 years of service.

On June 16, 2006, Vangie married Jim Kasowski.  They traveled all over the world, including trips to Holland, Paris, Spain, Germany and Alaska.  She spoke German as her first language, which came in handy during their travels…and scoldings. They also spent many winters in Texas and Arizona where they enjoyed dancing.  They put many miles on their shoes and hours on the dance floor together.

Vangie is survived by her husband; sons, Leon (Kate) Klemisch and Gary (Judy) Klemisch; daughters, Marcy (Chris) Hill and Sheila (Wade) Burke; step-children, Roger (Marsha) Kasowski, Flint (Dee) Kasowski, Carmen (Mark) Gubrud, Hoot (Terri) Kasowski and Jeanne (Chris) Vigness; 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; siblings, Andy (Leona) Braun, H. Barb Farley, Lorraine (Frank) Howard, Harry (JoAnn) Braun, George (Judy) Braun, Jim (Ben Jean) Braun, Donna (Jon) Hill, Barb (Fred) Foerster, Mary Jo (Phil) Flores and Sharon (Bruce) Carlson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; parents and brother, Leo.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care and support they provided the past few months.

Wake Service: Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Burial: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
