Evaughn J. Hovelsrud

Evaughn J. Hovelsrud, 77, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Hawley, MN, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, in River Pointe Assisted Living, Moorhead, MN.

Evaughn was born April 15, 1938, in rural Hawley, MN, to Gordon H. and Hilma Holt McDougall. She grew up near Hitterdal, MN, where she attended school, graduating in 1956 from Hitterdal High School. She worked for Wefald Law Office for five years in Hawley. She then was employed at First National Bank of Hawley for forty-four years.

Evaughn married Henry Hovelsrud on June 22, 1968 at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, MN. Henry died May 17, 2012.
Evaughn enjoyed bowling and playing Bingo. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagle’s Auxiliary. She was a member of Hegland Lutheran Church since 1968.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Stanley McDougall and Waldo McDougall; two sisters, Genevieve Gauffin and an infant sister; brothers-in-law, Ernest Gauffin, Erling Wee, Val Alex and Gordon Koppang.

Evaughn is survived by a brother, Russell Ramona McDougall of Hitterdal, MN; three sisters, Deloris Wee of Moorhead, MN, Beverly Alex of Minot, ND, and Marilyn Koppang of Mayville, ND; brother-in-law, Bennie Hovelsrud; sisters-in-law, Ethel McDougall and Sharon McDougall; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family of Evaughn would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley and the staff at River Pointe Assisted Living in Moorhead for their exceptional care.

Visitation: Thursday, September 3, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Funeral Service: Friday, September 4, at 10:00 a.m., in Hegland Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

Interment: Hegland Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
