Evelyn B. Chase, 101, Moorhead, MN, formerly of Carson, ND, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in Sanford Health Medical Center, Fargo.
Evelyn Bernice Olson was born on January 22, 1917, to Annie Heyem and John Olson in Barnesville, MN. They later lived in an old claims shack on the Cedar River near Watauga, SD. In 1934 Evelyn married Leonard Chase and the couple moved to Carson, ND. Together they had five children: Jack, Barbie, Ethyl, Patti and Larry. The family operated a farm in Carson until Leonard’s death in 1957. The family then moved to Wahpeton, ND where they lived until 1960. In 1960 Evelyn moved to Moorhead, MN where she worked for Wold drug store for many years.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time in Arizona with her lifelong friend, Evie, and spending time with her sister and best friend, Amy. She enjoyed going to her daughter’s house on Sunday’s to play Scrabble and eat pancakes. Evelyn loved her children, grandchildren and many friends deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; her sons, Jack Chase and Larry Chase; her daughter, Ethel Chase; her grandson, Michael Miller, and her many siblings.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbie Flynn, Laramie, WY and Patti Miller (Rip Wasfaret), Moorhead; sister, Bertha Mortenson, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Scott Miller, Beverly Anderson, Gary Miller, Jim Chase, Guy Chase, Nicko Kleppner, Darcy Nash, Kim Chase and Greg Chase; great-grandchildren, April Miller, Brooke Miller, Erin Miller, Ethan McDonnell and Ania McDonnell, and great-great grandchildren, Jaden Miller and Jace Miller.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 5:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Friends and family may gather together from 4:00 to 5:00 P.M.
