Evelyn Kuehl Bergman, 88, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, April 1, 2011.Evelyn Kuehl was born on August 22, 1922, in Glyndon, MN, to Ferdinand and Lela Tabatt Kuehl. She grew up in a three bedroom house, the oldest of 12. She attended grade school in Elmwood Township. At the age of 14, she left home to work for other families in the area. In 1945, she went to Argusville, ND, to work for a family named Sullivans. There she met her husband-to-be, Carl Chester Bergman.Evelyn married Chester Bergman on December 6, 1947, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin, MN. They farmed near Argusville and raised six children.Evelyn moved to Fargo in 1992. She loved to quilt, embroider, garden, bird watch, spend time at the lake, play bingo, and watch sports. She was an avid Twins fan. She bowled twice a week until her 80's. She loved to spend time with family and friends. Her four grandchildren brought great joy to her life.Evelyn is survived by two sons, Rick Bergman, Harwood, ND, and Tim Jody Bergman, Argusville, ND; four daughters, Sandra Walt Ihnken, West Fargo, ND, Shirley Scott Montgomery, Harwood, ND, Julie Bill Eikamp, Bismarck, ND, and Becky Bergman, Fargo, ND; four brothers, Marvin Beverly Kuehl, Moorhead, MN, Ronald Kuehl, Glyndon, MN, Donald Kuehl, Portland, OR, and Jerome Dorothy Kuehl, Moorhead, MN; three sisters, Lois Motschenbacher, Moorhead, MN, Beverly Edenborg, Moorhead, MN, and Karen Russ Hegge, West Fargo, ND; two sisters-in-law, Connie Kuehl, and Edde Kuehl; and four grandchildren, Kelly, Ally, Paige and Jenna Bergman.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Duane and Clifford; and two sisters, Glennys Larson and Sharon Stubstad. Special thanks to Harry and Tiny Soberg for the care they provided over the past few years.Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
