Evelyn Mae Schweitzer was born in Grand Forks, ND, on September 5, 1929, to Ernest and Lydiann (Ritter) Schweitzer.  She grew up in rural Cavalier, ND, and was baptized and confirmed at her beloved Evangelical United Brethren Church in Cavalier.  Evelyn graduated from Cavalier High School in 1947; she then attended Fargo School of Business and, upon graduating, worked as a bookkeeper for Carl Dommer and other area businesses.

Evelyn married Fordyce Lowell Johnson (Lowell) on June 19, 1954.  They made their home in Lake Park.  Evelyn was a much loved wife, mother and grandmother to her family and a dedicated bookkeeper for B & B Electric.  Evelyn and Lowell celebrated thirty-six years of marriage before Lowell’s death in 1990.

Evelyn married Chester Anderson on October 10, 1995.  They enjoyed traveling, entertaining family and friends and spending winters in Texas.  Evelyn and Chester celebrated twenty-one years of marriage before Chester’s death in 2016.

Evelyn was an excellent cook and seamstress.  She was skilled at hardanger, knitting, and cross-stitch; for many years, she coordinated the cross-stitch ornament project for the Hospice Community Christmas Tree.  She had a strong alto voice and sang in women’s trios, church and community choirs.  Evelyn played dominos and card games with gusto and was an avid fan of jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  She served as an election judge and delivered Meals on Wheels.  Evelyn was a member of Lake Park Lutheran Church where she was active in her circle and served as president of WELCA.  She was a proud member of the Peppy Parkers Homemakers Club.

Evelyn spent her final years living at Sunnyside, where the wonderful staff and volunteers cared for her with kindness and compassion.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, F. Lowell Johnson, husband, Chester Anderson, sister, Marilyn Knudson, infant brother Glen, infant sister Mildred, infant grandson Evan, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
