Fayette “Faye” Joan Harrison, 81, of Moorhead, MN, and formerly Center, ND, died peacefully with her husband and children by her side on October 2, 2024, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Faye was born August 24, 1943, in Hazen, ND to Albert and Hulda (Henke) Albers. She grew up on the family farm in Hannover, ND, and graduated from high school in Center, ND. She attended Concordia College in Seward, NE, and later Dickinson State University.
In 1969, Faye married the man she considered “the best of the lot,” Jim Harrison. They made their home in Center, ND, where they devotedly raised their three children. A long-time teacher with Center Schools, Faye was known to many as Mrs. Harrison. As a music teacher and speech coach, she inspired countless students to enjoy music, tell stories, and explore the arts.
In 2006, Jim and Faye moved to Moorhead, MN to be closer to family. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma Faye.” She loved to dote on her grandchildren and share their accomplishments with anyone who would listen. She enjoyed any time she could gather family and cook a large meal, practicing her Catholic faith, sewing, working on craft projects, watching Bison football, talking on the phone with her beloved sister Linda, and butterflies.
Faye is survived by her husband, Jim, Moorhead, MN; son, Dan Harrison, Moorhead; daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Sykora, Valley City, ND and Susan (Keith) Kunst, Blaine, MN; sister, Linda (Dave) McAdoo, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Finn and Nona Harrison, Zachary, Andrew and Joshua Sykora and Emma, Lacey and Oreona Kunst, and great-grandson, Jaxson Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Keith Henke, Jim Albers, and Everett Albers.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. Final resting place will be the columbarium at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
