Floyd L. Lecy, 88, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Sanford Health located in Fargo, ND.
Floyd Leroy Lecy was born on August 12, 1926 in Winger, MN to Alfred and Anna Nornes Lecy. Floyd grew up in the Winger area with a very close extended family. Floyd served in the United States Army during WWII. Floyd married AnnaBelle Eid on June 6, 1954 at the Sundal Lutheran Church located at Gary, MN. He worked on the Garrison Dam project and the Hibbing mines prior to settling in Moorhead, MN. Floyd then began his lifelong career as a barber that spanned approximately 40 years.
Floyd was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. He was also a member of the American Legion, Sons of Norway and Kiwanis serving as a past President. Floyd also enjoyed volunteering for many years at the Hjomkomst Center in Moorhead and sailing/fishing on Pelican Lake.
Floyd is survived by daughter Debra Dave Lecy-Nelson of Folsom, CA and son Tom Mary Jo of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Josh and Jon Nelson; Alexandria and Elizabeth Lecy. His sisters Avonne Trelstad, Karen Schimanski and brother Tim Lecy Karen Ann; sisters in law Marilyn Lecy and Emma Jean Lecy; brothers in law Chuck Stuhaug, Arvid Ann Eid and special friend Betty Bjerke. Floyd also has the following cousins that were raised as brothers Jim Benson, Kermit Benson and Roger Nornes; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
He is preceded in death by wife AnnaBell, parents Alfred and Anna Lecy; brothers Everett Lucille Lecy, Art Lecy, Sanford Lecy; sisters Maxine Don Rivard and Jaunita Stuhaug; special cousin Joyce Benson Anderson Olofson; brothers in law Maynard Trelstad and Wally Eid.
Floyd and family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and support staff of Sanford ICU and South 5th Floor for their exceptional and loving care of Floyd.
Floyd was loved, cherished and a good friend to many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sons of Norway in Fargo, Trinity Lutheran Church, the Hjemkomst Center and American Legion, all in Moorhead, or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
