Floyd O. Hansen

Floyd O. Hansen, age 87, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, January 30, 2010, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Floyd O. Hansen was born on December 2, 1922, to Soren and Annie Mickelsen Hansen in Hawley Township. He grew up and attended country school in rural Hawley. Floyd began farming in his pre-teen years and continued to farm into his seventies. He lived and farmed with his brother Charley and his family until 1962, at which time he began farming for Schroeder Farms. He married Irene Mattson on September 2, 1967, in Moorhead. Floyd later began working for Fischer Farms until he retired. As a child, Floyd enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid Twins fan. He also enjoyed playing cards as well as singing and playing numerous musical instruments. Floyd had a great sense of humor and will always be remembered for his poems, rhymes and songs. He will be missed dearly by those who knew him.He is survived by one son, Doug Bonnie Mattson of Smithville, MO; two daughters, Delene Don Michel of Worland, WY and Lynn Reggie Jackson Carow of Glyndon, MN; one sister, Betty Marweg of Hawley, MN; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Aagot Hansen of Hawley, MN and Evelyn Hansen of Hawley, MN.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene Hansen; two brothers, Charley and Harry Hansen and three sisters, Carrie Johnson, Inger Robertson and Mae Weaver.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
