Forrest V. Riedberger, of Hawley, Minnesota, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, at the age of 86.Forrest Vance Dit Riedberger was born at Hawley, Minnesota on August 12, 1917 to Leonard and Laura Getman Riedberger. He grew up and attended school in Hawley, graduating from Hawley High School in 1936. Forrest was married to Grace Whaley on January 8, 1939 at Hawley, Minnesota. He worked at the Hawley Creamery Association, Bob Fritz Sporting Goods in Moorhead, MN, was a school bus driver for the Hawley Public School, and owner/operator of Riedy's Drive-In. Dit was a life long member of Hawley Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He had been a member and fire chief of the Hawley Area Fire Department, served on the Hawley School Board, and belonged to Ducks Unlimited. Dit was an avid sportsman and played for the Hawley Hawks.Dit was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Vernon Sylvia Riedberger, Portland, OR, Everett Pearl Riedberger, Hawley, MN, and Warren Riedberger, Los Alamatos, CA; and two sisters, Viola Steckroat, Fargo, ND, and Lenore Albert Piper, Davenport, ND.He is survived by his wife, Grace Riedberger, Hawley, MN; one son, Dick Kathy Riedberger, Detroit Lakes, MN; one daughter, Pat Mike Elton, Burnsville, MN; two brothers, Raymond Mildred Riedberger, Tygh Valley, OR, and Ron Mary Riedberger, Vista, CA; one sister, Evelyn Kermit Knudson, Pelican Rapids, MN; a sister-in-law, Sharon Warren Riedberger, Los Alamatos, CA; six grandchildren, Eric Terri Elton and daughters, Jordan and Elizabeth, Apple Valley, MN, Sarah Grant Brown and daughter Taylor, Gulf Shores, AL, Randy Riedberger, Hawley, MN, Greg Riedberger and daughters Brittany and Tricia, Detroit Lakes, MN, David Wanda Riedberger and children Amanda, Zachery and Elizabeth, Rockford, MN, Stephanie Shawn Qualley and children Courtney and Mitchell, Lusby, MD.
