Frances L. Gallagher

Frances Lillian Gallagher passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 20, 2016 in the Palliative Care Unit of Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND at the age of 95. Frances was born on January 5, 1921 to Theolina Williams and Eugene Ziner in Taylor, ND. She attended Ziner schools until moving to Fargo in 1937. She graduated from Fargo Central in 1939.

Frances married George Hettenbaugh on June 20, 1941 in Wilbaux, MT. She and George moved to Buffalo State Park in Glyndon, MN. Frances then moved back to the family farm near Hawley, MN. She married Don Gallagher on June 22, 1965 in Roberts, SD. She later moved to Hawley, MN where she lived on her own until her death.

Frances was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished spending time outdoors, whether it was gardening or at the family farm. The farm held a dear place in her heart and she spent time there whenever possible. She loved her family deeply and took pride in nurturing them. She was extremely independent until her final days. In fact, she cleaned her garage her last day at home. She will also be remembered for her amazing cooking and baking skills.

Frances is survived by her sons: George Pat Hettenbaugh of Lake Park, MN; Bruce Kathy Hettenbaugh of Fargo, ND; and Rusty Hettenbaugh of Hawley, MN; grandchildren: Kari Jim Wiedeman, Becky Erickson, Shannon Hettenbaugh, Kim Copeland, Kyle Anna Hettenbaugh and Brett Hettenbaugh. She is also survived by many great and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Gallagher; brother, Edward Ziner; and sisters, Marcella Amundson and Theolin Benzie.

Memorial Service on Saturday, November 26 at 6 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN with a visitation at 5 p.m.

Burial at Hawley Cemetery.
