Francis Gordon McDaniels (Frank) - A Life Soared High
Francis Gordon McDaniels, known to all as Frank, passed away peacefully at his home in Cormorant Village on February 10, 2024. Born in Morris, Minnesota on December 22, 1928, Frank lived a life as full of flight as his beloved airplanes.
Frank's spirit took flight early, graduating from Morris High School in 1946 and immediately joining the Marines. The same year, love took flight when he married Eunice Jagow, their journey together blessed with eight children. His career soared for 20 years at Northwestern Bell, where he played a pivotal role in bringing the dial tone to countless communities. Later, his purchasing talents took him to companies like Polaris and Steiger, ensuring their machinery always had the right parts to reach new heights.
Even in retirement, Frank's spirit never grounded. He became the "keeper" of the Cormorant Town Hall, where lively discussions took flight with the Men's Coffee Club. But his true passion took to the skies. Earning his pilot's license in 1953, Frank held various certifications, allowing him to explore the world from a bird's-eye view until his final days.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his children: Daniel (Connie), Becky Sorenson (Steve), Frank Jr. (Jenny), Kim Kollar (Virg), Robyn, Mary Seifert (Ross), Amy Ventura (Rommel), and Kari Kelting (David). Their families, including countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren, continue to soar high, carrying the warmth of his memory in their hearts.
This summer, a celebration of life will take flight in Cormorant, a fitting tribute to a man who lived life to the fullest, always reaching for the sky.
