Frank L. Gronbeck

Frank Gronbeck, 92, Moorhead, MN, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Frank L. Gronbeck was born on May 25, 1917, near Leonard, ND, to Arne and Josephine Vangness Gronbeck, the oldest of eight children. He grew up and attended school there. He worked for Meyer Guernsey Farm in West Fargo, ND, before spending three and a half years as a route salesman for Northwest Bakery and then six years as a route salesman for Lakeland Fruit. He transported autos for Maughan Transport in Fargo and then owned and operated Minn-ota Carbonics for thirty-five years in Fargo- Moorhead. Frank married Corine Oslie on May 28, 1938 near Leonard, ND. They made their home in Moorhead. Frank had been a member of Moorhead Kiwanis, Mended Hearts of Fargo, the Moorhead Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the Sons of Norway, where he had served as president. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, serving on the church council and as an usher. In retirement he devoted time to volunteering with the food pantry, Kiwanis and Mended Hearts. Family was very important to him, and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked playing cards, especially a good game of whist. He will be dearly missed by his family.Frank is survived by his wife, Corine Gronbeck, Moorhead; three daughters, Marlene Keith Canton, Port Orchard, WA, Marlys Dennis Montgomery, Moorhead, MN, and Myrna James Beattie, Fargo, ND; three brothers, Arnfred Doris Gronbeck, West Fargo, ND, Ernest Ella Gronbeck, Fargo, ND, and Arnold Darlene Gronbeck, Moorhead, MN; sister, Gladys Walaker, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lucille Bartholomay and Eunice Nygard; one great-granddaughter and one brother, LeRoy.
