Fred A. Johnson

Fred Johnson, 73, of Rollag, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Lilac Homes in Dilworth, MN. Fred was born July 3, 1950, in Blackduck, MN, to Carl and Dorothy (Petrowske) Johnson. He grew up near Waskish, MN, and went to school in Kelliher, where he graduated from high school. After high school, Fred proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he returned to the area and on June 17, 1976, he married Bonnie Tow. Together they made their home in Dilworth for a time before settling in Rollag in 1986. Over the years, Fred worked as a mechanic for Rapat Corporation in Hawley and later enjoyed 20 years with Northern Improvement until retiring. He also enjoyed many years of instructing and training in Snowmobile and Firearm Safety. When he had the time, he also loved hunting, ice fishing and most of all spending time with his family.  He will be greatly missed.

Fred is survived by his sons, Nick (Allyson) Johnson and Andy Johnson; grandchildren, Carter, Lilianna and Bonnie Johnson, Mya Nickson; sisters, Betty Mostad, Rose (Jim) Boon, Karen (Lyle) Fenske, Edith “Dee Dee” (Paul) Menge; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; and parents, Carl and Dorothy.

Visitation will be Friday, March 15, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag, MN.

Funeral will be Saturday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m., at Rollag Lutheran Church, Rollag, MN.

Interment will follow the service at Rollag Lutheran Church Cemetery.
