Garrie R. Leaf

Garrie R. Leaf, 65, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, with his daughters and grandchildren by his side.

Garrie was born April 15, 1954, in White Earth, MN to Rufus and Veronica (Saice) Leaf.  The family moved to the FM area when he was young. Garrie was united in marriage to Shirley Hanson and together they had two daughters, Andrea and Erica.

Garrie is survived by his daughters, Andrea (Darren) Peterson, Moorhead, MN,  and Erica Leaf, Moorhead; grandchildren, Dylan Leaf, Aleashia (Andrew) Seter, Tyler (Eden) Peterson, Shawn (Kayti) Peterson, Caitlyn (Shane) Peterson, RaeAnna (Casey) Peterson and Lucas Peterson; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Tyler Jr., Elias and Alan, and two more on the way; his sister, Melody Mortenson, Moorhead; brothers,  Rodney Leaf, Fergus Falls, MN and Ross (Patty) Leaf, Moorhead, sisters-in-law, Rita Leaf and Shirley Leaf, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dean, Joyce and Jim.

During his life Garrie enjoyed spending time with family and meeting new people. He was as stubborn as a mule, but had a big heart with a soft spot for his grandchildren. He liked to play and watch golf, go fishing and ride bike. He loved his coffee, cherries, and onions. He also like to collect a wide variety of different things.

Garrie’s signature look was as laid-back as he was; consisting of a pair of jeans, a gray or tan pocketed shirt, a bandanna and his hat.

A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, June 17, 2019, with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
