Garritt Anthony Ledeboer, 92, passed away on March 6, 2014, after a short illness, at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo. Garritt was born on June 12, 1921 in Prinsburg, MN. He attended country school and worked on the farm until the age of 16. The family moved to Moorhead where he graduated from high school and joined the Army Air Force, being trained as a flight engineer. He married Kathleen Peterson in October 1942.
After serving in the army he returned home, and because of his love for animals he went into the cattle business. After he retired he worked part-time at the Valley Veterinary Hospital in Fargo for many years. His beloved wife, Kathleen, died in November 1999.
He is survived by his 6 children, Marillyn Ken Nelson, Brandon, MN; Sharon Hulett, Minnetonka, MN; Marcia Ledeboer, Rushford, MN; Carol Doug Johnson, Rushford, MN; Richard Ledeboer, Moorhead; and Laura Dan Cashman, Denver, CO, as well as 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Evelyn DeJong, Teresa Samuels, Marion DeJong and Dorothy Taft, all of Moorhead, Myrna Taft of AZ, and Linda Winn of CA, and brothers Allen Ledeboer of Olivia, MN, and Leroy Ledeboer of WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garritt and Mary Ledeboer, a brother, Martin Ledeboer and a sister, Joyce Johnson.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at First Presbyterian Church, 2900 5th St. S, Moorhead, on Monday April 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with lunch and fellowship following the service.
